Bolts Sweep Tacoma

Bernie Lilavois records his 1,000 and 1,001 points on historic night

Anaheim, CA - (February 26, 2012) - The Anaheim Bolts completed the sweep of the Tacoma Stars, winning the second game of the double header 10-9.

With the win, the Bolts end their inaugural season with a credible 8-8 record, but the night will always be remembered for team owner and had coach Bernie Lilavois recording the 1,000 point of his illustrious career.

Lilavois came into tonight’s match on 998 points and put himself on the brink of the milestone with a gorgeous assist on a power play at the 12:22 mark of the second quarter. The Original Bolt took a feed in the corner and cruyfed the ball across the face of goalkeeper Sean Conlon for Tomislav Colic to tap in at the far post to tie the match at 3-3.

The historic moment came at the 3:16 mark of the third quarter as Colic returned the favor by slotting a beautiful ball in from the top of the arc for Lilavois to sweep home the 1,000 point of his indoor career at the back post.

The man responsible for brining indoor soccer back to Orange County after a 14 year hiatus capped off his night with his 1,001 point with an assists for Hugo Casillas five minutes into the fourth quarter. It was “El Matadors” 27th of the season to finish as the Bolts leading scorer.

With that goal, the Bolts took the lead for good at 9-7. Vitalie Bulala pulled one back to make it 9-8 and prompt Tacoma head coach Todd Stauber to bring on Steve Mohn as the sixth attacker. Miguel Sanchez took advantage of the empty net with a strike at the 12:27 mark of the final quarter.

Mark Lee’s fifth goal of the night for the Stars with 14 seconds left brought the score to 10-9, but the Bolts held on for another close victory to finish the season on a high.

NOTES: Adriano De Lima continued his incredible tear with another two goals and three assist meaning the Brazilian finished the season by scoring 14 goals in his last four games.

The Bolts ended their season by winning five of their last six matches.

Bolts Take First Match Of Double Header

Anaheim hangs on for 9-6 victory over Tacoma

Anaheim, CA - (February 26, 2012) - The Anaheim Bolts made sure not to let another lead slip as they held on for a 9-6 victory over the Tacoma Stars in the first match of today’s double header.

After trailing 3-1, the Bolts kicked it into a higher gear towards the end of the first quarter. Feeding off that energy, Joe Allemand scored his first professional goal. Adriano De Lima and Hugo Casillas added further strikes to head into the break with a 5-4 lead.

The Bolts kept the Stars off the board in the third quarter and extended their lead to 8-4 heading into the final 15 minutes of play.

It looked to be a nervy finale, however, as Mark Lee and Ed Walugembe scored 37 seconds apart to get Tacoma back into the game at 8-6. Anaheim held on with De Lima putting the result beyond doubt by flicking the ball past 6th attacker, Ian Weinberg to sow up all three points. De Lima finished with his third four-goal-game in succession, while Casillas continued his streak of four straight games with a hat-trick.

These two teams will meet again at 6:00 P.M. PST for both teams’ season finales and the final game of the entire PASL regular season.

Anaheim to close season with double header versus Tacoma

Anaheim, CA - (February 24th, 2012) - The Anaheim Bolts will finish their inaugural season with a double header versus the Tacoma Stars on Sunday at the Anaheim Convention Center Arena. Kick-off is slated for 1:00 P.M. and 6:00 P.M. PST.

The first match is a make-up game for the December 18th date that was postponed due to field issues. While both games are single admission, tickets for the December 18th game will be honored for the 1:00 P.M. kick off.

Despite being out of the playoffs, the Bolts (6-8) are looking for two more wins to sweep the Stars for the season and end their inaugural campaign with a respectable .500 record.

It will not be easy, however, as the first two games in Tacoma went down to the wire with the Bolts prevailing 12-10 and 12-11 just two weeks ago.

“Tacoma is a fierce team, that battles for every ball,” notes Anaheim head coach Bernie Lilavois. “Not only do they have heart, but they also have some quality players.”

On the travel roster for Tacoma this weekend are veterans Leighton O’Brien and Ian Weinberg.

O’Brien joined Tacoma this season from the Montreal Impact after an 11 year career which included stops in Major League Soccer with San Jose and Real Salt Lake. The Tacoma native also spent time in the Swedish second division and accumulated numerous titles and awards in the United Soccer Leagues, most notably with the Seattle Sounders. His impact was so great that the former MVP of the USL was named the 11th most influential player in the league over the last decade. O’Brien has three goals and four assists in six games this season, including one goal and three assist in the 12-11 loss to the Bolts.

Weinberg led Tacoma in scoring last year with 21 goals and 16 assists. The 30-year-old tops the Stars scoring charts again this season with 19 goals and five assist including a hat-trick in each of the games versus the Bolts.

For Anaheim, it’s a chance for the players to make one last bow in front of their home fans this season. Leading scorer Hugo Casillas looks to continue his goal scoring exploits. El Matador has struck a hat-trick in each of his last three games. Adriano De Lima is also in sensational form, with four goals in each of his last two games.

Fans could also witness history as head coach Bernie Lilavois is just two points away from 1,000 for his illustrious career. If the Original Bolt decides to lose his suit and suit up, he may very well leave the fans with a lasting impression as they witness a milestone that very few have ever reached in the indoor game.

Asked if it would be hard to get his troops riled up for this weekend without anything on the line, Lilavois fired back, “Everything is on the line. There is plenty to play for. We want to finish with the best record possible and we want to give our fans the final sendoff they deserve. Our boys are professionals and they get up for any game no matter what’s on the line. If not, they don’t deserve to be here, but we have seen that with their heart, hustle and sacrifice this season, that everyone who suits up on Sunday has earned the right to wear the Bolts jersey. I am very proud of my squad and am sure I will be again come the end of the season on Sunday evening.”

The Anaheim Bolts playoff dreams ended with the Bolts falling to Tijuana 12-11 in overtime. Anaheim started off well, but (as has been the story of their season) squandered yet another advantage late on. As a result, Tijuana is in the playoffs along with Turlock and San Diego as the representatives of the Western Division.

The Anaheim Bolts will finish off their inaugural season with a double header against the Tacoma Stars. Lightning Bolts

The Anaheim Bolts are still alive in the play-off race following two nail biting victories over the Tacoma Stars, 12-10 on Saturday and 12-11 on Sunday. With the two wins in Washington, the Bolts improved to 6-7 on the season and are on a three game winning streak. The sweep over Tacoma also means the Bolts finished the road portion of their inaugural season with a very respectable 4-4 record.

After a week off, the Bolts are back to the training ground with two matchas this weekend up in the great Northwest. The Bolts will take on the Tacoma Stars on Saturday at 7:00 P.M. PST and Sunday at 3:00 P.M. PST in the first ever meetings between the two clubs. Check www.boltsoccer.com later this week for the weekend preview. The Bolts must win all five of its remaining matches and hope that Tijuana and Turlock hit bad patches of form in order for Anaheim to sneak into the playoffs. Of those five matches, four are against Tacoma.

After a week off, the Bolts will look to return with a renewed focus for home matches against the San Diego Sockers on Friday and the Phoenix Monsoon Saturday. Friday will be a huge match for the Bolts as they renew the I-5 rivalry with the San Diego Sockers. The Bolts are not only looking to end a four-game loosing skid, but will also want revenge for the 13-6 loss suffered in Del Mar back on January 7th. The last contest was an ill tempered affair that ended in fisticuffs, so Friday’s rematch should be explosive right from the start.

The Bolts have plenty of exciting events planned for Friday night. The LA Galaxy’s MLS Cup will be on display at the Anaheim Convention Center Arena and fans will get a chance to view one of American soccer’s most coveted trophies.

Friday will also be “Make A Wish Night.” The Make A Wish Foundation will have a texting campaign during the game where fans can make donations from their cell phones. Before the game, a Make A Wish dignitary will make a short speech before participating in a ceremonial kickoff.

The Bolts are in the process of teaming up with 300 Anaheim (http://www.threehundred.com/anaheim.html). 300 Anaheim will host a special bowling/soccer game that a few lucky fans will get to participate in during the first quarter intermission.

The Anaheim Bolts are proud to announce that they have teamed up with Rubio’s. There will be a special “Rubio’s Row” at each home game where every fan in that row will receive a “free taco” courtesy of Rubio’s! In addition, the Rubio’s “prize wheel” will make appearance at select Bolt’s home games for the remainder of the season.

Despite being 3-6, head coach Bernie Lilavois believes his team will still fight for a spot in the playoffs. “We are no doubt in a hole,” Lilavois said, “but I believe in my guys and in what we are trying to do as an organization. We will look to this weekend to get back to winning ways and start a run that will take us to the postseason.”

Hello 2012! We here at the Bolts hope you had a wonderful holiday season and wish all our friends a new year full of peace, health and happiness! Even during the holidays, the Bolts players and staff have been keeping busy. Here is what’s in the works for this upcoming week:

After three games on the road, the Bolts (3-3 in the PASL) are finally back at the Anaheim Convention Center Arena with a showdown against Tijuana on Friday, at 8:00 P.M. The Bolts will be hosting “Latino Night” and tickets start at just 5 dollars! Some of the features of the Bolts first ever “Latino Night” will include Mariachi music, Mexican food, piñatas, an interactive fan zone and much more. It is also a chance for the Bolts to recognize and celebrate the accomplishment of its Latino players such as Miguel Sanchez, Hugo Casillas, Jesus Molina, and Rafael Gaytan. All of whom have played professionally in Mexico’s top outdoor divisions. In addition, Carlos Borja trained as an apprentice at Cruz Azul and has featured for Chivas USA while Patric “Little Messi” Ruiz hails from Guatemala.

On Saturday, the Bolts will head down to San Diego to renew it’s I-5 rivalry with the league leading San Diego Sockers on Saturday, January 7th. Fans are invited to travel on the bus with the team! For Just 20 dollars, fans will ride the bus with the team to and from San Diego starting at Arena Soccer Park of Orange at 3:30 P.M. sharp (2190 N. Canal Street, Orange Ca. 92865) and receive a ticket to sit in the Anaheim Bolts’ own cheering section at the Del Mar Arena. Season’s greetings from the Anaheim Bolts! We hope everyone is having a great holiday season! Even during the PASL’s festive break, the Bolts are hard at work to make sure that the club and its fans are on track for an electrifying 2012! Here is what’s in the works:

While everyone is taking a bit of a break, owner and head coach Bernie Lilavois is hard at work. He may not have a belly that shakes like a bowl full of jelly when he laughs, but he’s been playing Santa. Lilavois is running around town delivering Bolts merchandise to fans to 26 lucky fans who ordered from our store before Christmas.

The Bolts are 3-3 in the PASL and will start 2012 with a home game against Tijuana on Friday, January 6th. The Bolts will be hosting “Latino Night” with plenty of wonderful events. Continue to check www.boltsoccer.com for upcoming announcements regarding that night’s entertainment. After the match with Tijuana, the Bolts will leave directly from the Anaheim Convention Center Arena and head down to San Diego to renew it’s I-5 rivalry with the league leading San Diego Sockers on Saturday, January 7th.

It was a frustrating weekend for the Anaheim Bolts. On Friday the Bolts travelled to Turlock and raced out to a 6-2 lead only to be stopped dead in their tracks. Turlock scored seven unanswered goals and halted a late surge from the Bolts just in time to run out 9-8 winners. The match report can be found here:

The Bolts were looking to bounce back on Sunday against the Tacoma Stars, but field set up issues meant the match had to be postponed. The Bolts must now wait until the New Year to get back to winning ways. An announcement regarding a make up date with the Stars will be made within the next few days.

Coming up this weekend, the Bolts will travel to Turlock on Friday to face the Express. Kickoff is set for 7:35 P.M. PST. On Friday, the Anaheim Bolts won their first ever match in the Professional Arena Soccer League with a 12-10 win over the previously undefeated Turlock Express. The Bolts continued their winning ways on Saturday with a 15-7 victory over local side Docemas, in the first round of the US Open Arena Championship. Docemas, from Chino Hills, kept the match as close as 9-7 midway through the fourth quarter, but the Bolts exploded for six unanswered goals to make sure of its place in the second round of the tournament. Whats Up Next: The Bolts will now head on the road for matches against the Phoenix Monsoon on Saturday at 6:00 P.M. PST and on Sunday at 11 A.M. PST. The Monsoon is in last place in the PASL’s Western Division at 1-5, but the Bolts (1-2) won’t take them lightly in their bid to get above .500.

The Anaheim Bolts will be back at the Anaheim Convention Center Arena this weekend with matches on Friday and Saturday night. Friday night, the Bolts (0-2) will host Western Division and league leaders (4-0), Turlock Express in a Professional Arena Soccer League Showdown.

On Saturday the Bolts welcome amateur side, Docemas, in the first round of the US Open Arena Cup (USOAC). Both matches are set for 8:00 P.M. PST. Good tickets are still available and can be purchased by calling (714) 321-9898 or online at www.boltsoccer.com.

DOCEMAS earned the right to face the Bolts in the first round of the USOAC by winning the regional qualifying tournament over Thanksgiving weekend. The tournament was hosted by the Bolts at the Arena Soccer Park of Orange. Docemas overcame Freekick in the final by a 4-3 score-line to earn their place in the competition proper.

BOLTS ANNOUNCE DOUBLE HEADER AGAINST TACOMA

Anaheim, CA - (February 16) - The Anaheim Bolts will play a double header against the Tacoma Stars on February 26 to make up for the December 18th postponement between the two clubs.

The make-up match will be played at 1:00 P.M. with the second match at its originally scheduled 6:00 P.M. kick-off time at the Anaheim Convention Center Arena.

Each match is single admission, but fans can get a good deal with the February Fan Pack. For just $15, fans will receive tickets to both Tacoma matches as well as this Sunday’s encounter with Revolucion Tijuana. Fans will also get a complimentary movie ticket courtesy of UltraLuxe Cinemas.

“This will be a huge day for our club as both matches could very well determine whether or not we reach the play-offs in our inaugural season,” said Bolts Director of Opperations, Cynthia Gonzalez. “We will have plenty of fun events planned as well as two very intriguing match-ups on the field. These two teams played to the wire in both games last weekend with the Bolts coming out on top 12-10 and 12-11 so I think these will be rematches that fans definitely wont want to miss.”

BOLTS LOSE IN OVERTIME

Fall to Revolucion Tijuana 12-11 and are bounced from the playoffs

Anaheim, CA - (February 19, 2012) - The Anaheim Bolts fell to Revolucion Tijuana 12-11 in an overtime thriller at the Anaheim Convention Center Arena.

With the loss, Anaheim (6-8) is out of the playoffs and Tijuana (9-6) takes the third and final spot in the Western Division.

In a cat and mouse affair, the Bolts led Tijuana by one goal all the way to 7-6. The Bolts even managed a few two goal leads and eventually extended the scoreline to 11-9 late in the fourth quarter, but Revolucion fought back to tie the game at 11-11 with just 2:44 left.

At the 1:42 mark in overtime, Tomislav Colic gave the ball away in the defensive end. Edgar Rivas took full advantage, slaming home the winning goal to put the Mexican side into the playoffs at the expense of Anaheim.

Adriano De Lima had 4 goals and 2 assists and Hugo Casillas struck his third hat-trick in as many games as the Bolts looked to have done enough.

As has been the story of their season, however, the Bolts could not hold on to the lead. As ESPNLA’s Scott French noted after the game, Anaheim has squandered leads in six of its eight losses. In four of those losses, the lead was blown in the final period of play.

“I’m absolutly gutted,” head coach Bernie Lilavois lamented after the game. “The boys fought so hard but, once again, we just couldn’t hold out. We still have two games against Tacoma next Sunday. We are going to come out strong and put on a good show for our fans who have been awesome all season.”

Goalkeeper coach Jeff Tacket saw the lighter side of tonight’s heartbreak saying, “tonight we finally saw guys doing things we had asked of them all season in terms of their movement and willingness to get behind the ball.”

If the young Bolts can continue to put Lilavois’ and Tackets’ tactics into action, then they could very well end their inagural PASL season with two wins next weekend against the Tacoma Stars. The double header will kick off at 1:00 P.M. PST at the Anaheim Convention Center Arena with the rematch slated for 6:00 P.M. PST.

ANAHEIM BOLTS ANNOUNCE GO PINK! NIGHT

Bolts Partner with Komen Orange County to raise Breast Cancer Awareness

Anaheim, CA - (January 6, 2012)- The Anaheim Bolts are very pleased to announce a partnership with the Orange County Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure® and will host their Go Pink! Night on February 19th, 2012 at the Anaheim Convention Center Arena as the Anaheim Bolts take on Revolución Tijuana at 6 P.M. PST.

The Anaheim Bolts will dress in special pink uniforms for the match. The game-worn jerseys will be raffled off at the end of the game, with the proceeds going to Komen Orange County. There will also be a number of booths and tables set up to bring awareness to the efforts of the Affiliate for breast cancer research and programs.

BOLTS COMPLETE SWEEP OVER STARS

Anaheim hang on for dear life to win 12-11

Tacoma, WA - (February 12, 2012) -

The Anaheim Bolts completed a weekend sweep of the Tacoma Stars in extraordinary fashion with a 12-11 victory at the Starfire Sports Complex.

The Bolts came back from 5-4 down to take a 8-6 lead at halftime but the fun was just beginning. Anaheim came storming out of the gate in the second half and goals from Hugo Casillas (who struck his second hat-trick of the weekend), Felipe Gonzalez and and Tomislav Colic meant the Bolts took an 11-7 lead into the fourth quarter.

The Bolts extended their advantage to 12-7 when Adriando De Lima struck his fourth of the evening with a quick snapshot at the near post, but Tacoma came storming back.

The Stars brought out Leighton Oâ€™Brien as the sixth attacker and pulled two back through Stephen Mohn and Ian Weinberg. After the second goal, Jesus Molina was yellow carded for punting the ball away in frustration, meaning the Bolts had to put a man in the box and were down 6-4 in terms of personnel. Miguel Sanchez was then whistled for a sixth foul forcing the Bolts down to 6-3 at the 13:39 mark.

Tacoma took full advantage with Vitalie Bulala scoring 13 seconds later and Oscar Jimenez pulled the Stars within one with just 35 seconds remaining. The Bolts held on, however, with Colic poking the ball away from Mohn before he could shoot off of a corner kick with 10 seconds left to preserve the victory.

The Bolts were already in trouble as early as the third quarter when Rafael Gaytan was shown a red card for retaliating after twice being clipped from behind by Micah Wenzel. Just moments later Jesus Molina went down with a knee injury, but the veteran keeper toughed it out and made some crucial saves down the stretch.

â€œI am so proud of our guys,â€ beamed head coach Bernie Lilavois after the game. â€œWe faced a lot of adversity but we fought as a team and held on for the win. Getting the W the way we did should be a real turning point for our season.â€

The Bolts are still mathematically in the playoff hunt and must win their remaining three games while hoping that either Tijuana or Turlock slip up down the stretch.

The phrase in the Bolts camp is â€œone game at a timeâ€ and Anaheim will start their three game home-stand to end the regular season next Sunday versus Revolucion Tijuana at 6:00 P.M. PST at the Anaheim Convention Center Arena.

Anaheim survive late Tacoma surge to hold on for 12-10 win

Tacoma, WA - (February 11, 2012) - The Anaheim Bolts kept their playoff hopes alive with a 12-10 victory over the Tacoma Stars at the Starfire Sports Complex.

It was almost the same old story for the Bolts as they raced out to a 6-1 halftime lead only to let Tacoma back into the match with a 5-2 third quarter run.

Felipe Gonzalez scored the only goal of the first quarter and Anaheim looked to be sitting comfortably as the Bolts ended the half with three unanswered goals through Juan Gonzalez scoring either side of a Hugo Casillas strike after Raphael Cox brought Tacoma into the match at 3-1 at the 9:25 mark of the second quarter.

Bernie Lilavois preached to his squad at halftime that they needed to play the final 30 minutes as they had the first half hour, but it was the Stars who came shooting out of the gate with five different scorers to bring the match to 7-6 before Adriano De Lima ended the scoring for the quarter with a wonderful chip from midfield that caught Tacoma Goalkeeper Sean Conlon off his line.

The teams traded goals in the fourth quarter and Tacoma looked threatening, but the Bolts held on for their second consecutive win, improving to 3-4 on the road.

Juan Gonzalez led the Bolts with four goals and two assists while Hugo Casillas added a hat-trick. Mark Lee and Ian Weinberg each had hat-tricks for the Stars.
